THE SCOTTISH BORDERS YOUTH BRASS BAND

The Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band (SBYBB) is a modern brass band made up of forty brass bad percussion musicians between the ages of 11-18. They come from all across the Scottish Borders and Langholm. Most players are affiliated to one of the Borders brass bands in Peebles, Innerleithen, Selkirk, Galashiels, St. Boswells, Hawick, Jedburgh and Langholm.

The Band is directed by prolific brass band composer/arranger, conductor and teacher Alan Fernie who is based in Selkirk. SBYBB is managed by the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association as part of their extensive youth development programme.

The SBYBB won the senior section of the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships held in Perth Concert Hall in November 2016. As well as the national title of Scottish Champions, this achievement brought qualification for the European Youth Brass Band Championships and the Band undertook a very successful trip to Ostend, Belgium in April 2017.
